mini lesson 10 - when are you gettig married? - 국수 언제 먹지?
This phrase literally means, “When will I eat your noodles?.” In Korea, it also means ‘To get married’. Traditionally, guests all always served noodles at wedding banquet and the meaning of eating it is to wish the bride and groom a long and happy life together, just like the long noodles.
If you want to know whe your friends are going to get married, you can ask them, “Kuk-su eon-je meok-yeo-jul-geo-ya?” (국수 언제 먹여 줄거야?) / When are you going to feed me noodles?
Vocabularies related to wedding -
Marriage/wedding: 결혼(gyeol-hon) -
Wedding ceremony: 결혼식(gyeol-hon-sik) -
Wedding invitation: 청첩장(cheong-cheob-jang) -
Bride: 신부(shin-bu) -
Groom: 신랑(shin-lang)
